Since its first trailer, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has looked to be a visual treat for Xbox owners, but it seems those visuals have come at the cost of frame rate. The PC version will reap the benefits of the hardware with better frame rate, though.
German outlet GamePro recently published a preview of Hellblade 2, which pointed out there are no other graphic options on console. The only way to improve FPS is playing on PC.
This FPS issue was addressed by VFX director Mark Slater-Tunstill as intentional. Ninja Theory wanted to make the game feel like a movie, which typically only runs at 24 FPS. The ever-controversial discussion behind frame rates are strong, with those seeking higher frame rates dismissing the “movie frame rate” argument because movies are not interactive media.
It’ll be interesting to see how the game plays out once released on May 21.
