Microsoft has dropped plans to charge $80 for their upcoming action RPG, The Outer Worlds 2. The game will launch at $70 instead.
As reported by VGC, a spokesperson asserted this was decided due to market conditions. Currently, it’s the only game that Xbox revealed with that $80 price tag.
“We’re focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore, and will keep our full-priced holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99, in line with current market conditions.”
This change of heart does put into question their plans for future games and whether they will chug on with the $80 plans or if it’s dead in the water thanks to the vocal critics.
The Outer Worlds 2 releases on October 29, with the expected Day One Game Pass availability.
