Following the massive layoffs and the cancelation of the Perfect Dark remake and Everwild, Microsoft looks to be eyeing the future, including reviving Banjo-Kazooie. Some pretty high-profile developers are sharing interest.
VGC shares that they’ve heard Microsoft is listening to pitches to revive the long-since dead platformer, which hasn’t seen any action since 2008’s Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Big name developers have even thrown their interests about, with Crash 4 and Spyro Reignited Trilogy‘s Toys for Bob and Ori and the Blind Forest‘s Moon Studios specifically named.
“I heard constantly the name that comes up is Toys for Bob, who really wanna do one. Funnily enough, I heard Moon Studios, as well, was another one who’s really interested.”
Both developers have ties to Microsoft, with Microsoft itself having a hand in Moon Studios’ Ori series and having been the (former) owner of TFB, they both have a decent chance at getting their hands on Rare’s IP.
