Elder Scrolls Online “Isn’t Going Anywhere” Dev Affirms

Despite recent layoffs, and the departure of ZeniMax head Matt Firor, new boss Jo Burba has affirmed that Elder Scrolls Online isn’t throwing in the towel. This comes after the layoffs, which led to Rare’s Everwild and The Initiative’s Perfect Dark remake canned, as well as ZeniMax’s unannounced sci-fi RPG, Project Blackbird.

In a blog post sharing the new head, they confirmed the studio is working hard on improvements and new features. Burba’s also assured fans that they haven’t changed their core tenants and will continue to be “player first, game always.”

“Allow me to assure you, the ESO community, that the game isn’t going anywhere, and the studio is continuing to work hard on new features, adventures, and improvements. We said that there’s big changes to the world of Tamriel on the horizon, and that hasn’t changed. We will be sharing more about those soon.”

While it’s unfortunate that ZeniMax Online couldn’t branch out beyond ESO, we’re at least glad that things will continue to chug along for the MMO Elder Scrolls entry.

What do you think? Are you disappointed that ZeniMax canned Project Blackbird? Let us know below!
