An Activision Blizzard internal townhall meeting between execs and employees hints that a Guitar Hero revival could be on the table. The last game in the rhythm series was 2015’s well-received Guitar Hero Live.
Windows Central reports James Corden, no relation believed, of the well-known comedian-actor, interviewed Kotick about ABK’s future in the hands of Microsoft. He talked about the future tech and even name-dropped Guitar Hero.
The interest in reviving Guitar Hero may seem out of the blue, but early last year Kotick was all for it — alongside Skylanders — in an interview with VentureBeat. Anything is possible, but at the end of the day, once the deal goes through, it’s all up to Microsoft, and it might be hard to convince it to revive the series.
“The re-emergence of Guitar Hero and other things would not be possible without the different types of resources.”
