Phil Spencer Playing Gears Of War Games Means Nothing

A bit ago, fans noticed Xbox boss Phil Spencer started revisting old Gears of War games for the first time in a decade. Naturally, this sparked discussion around a remaster or collection of the classic Gears games.

Unfortunately, Pencer jumping into the shoes of Marcus Fenix means nothing to a potential remaster or collection. Speaking with Destin Legarie on YouTube, he revealed this was him playing the game with a friend who never played it.

“Quick story, a friend of mine who I work with, she’s younger than I am – she never played the Gears games. So, we’re going through and playing Gears — started on 1, we’re now on 3 — they’re all co-op so we’re playing together,”

This hits deeper for those hoping for more Gears, as the series hasn’t seen much action since 2019’s Gears 5. We have Gears of War: E-Day on the way, but very little is really known about it, with the most recent news being People Can Fly acting as its co-developer.

It’s all too possible Microsoft will get the hint and toss a team together to bring the classic games to a modern audience with a remaster, but at the same time, the games themselves are available on Game Pass, so it’s not like they’re too lost to time.
