4 Xbox Games Confirmed For Rival Console Release

True to his word, Phil Spencer joined Sarah Bond and Matt Booty on the Official Xbox Podcast to discuss the future of the console, and it seems some once exclusives won’t be exclusive in the future. Many people were concerned about what was planned, and now we know.

During the podcast (as reported by The Verge), four games were greenlit for release on rival consoles — both the PS5 and Nintendo Switch. While Spencer never named the four, people have an idea, as he did say two were community-driven while the other two were smaller titles.

It’s believed the “smaller titles” are Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, while the “community-driven” games are Sea of Thieves and Grounded. This change doesn’t mean Microsoft’s console won’t have exclusives, but the Xbox boss believes that there will be less console exclusives over the next decade. At this time, we suspect the success of these four games on other platforms will gauge how often Microsoft will release its games to other platforms.

If we had to guess, we’d assume its first-party games will timed exclusives and rarely something of a Helldivers 2 situation, where Sony released the game to Steam alongside its PS5 release.
