Treyarch is taking back the helm with next year’s Call of Duty, which might take us back to a more traditional COD experience under the Black Ops banner. Many have been expecting the next Black Ops entry for a while now.
A report from Windows Central alleges that the 2024 Call of Duty, which is in the works at Treyarch, will not just be a Black Ops entry, but also era-focused, with the early 90s as its backdrop, specifically during the Gulf War. It will specifically put a spotlight on CIA corruption, packaged with a “nuanced” narrative. It will also feature more accurate firearms to the era, compared to other recent entries with its modern or futuristic twists.
Quite frankly, after the monumental failure that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was, it’s probably best that Treyarch takes the lead and makes it as tantalizing as it could by slapping the Black Ops branding on it. Considering it hasn’t been officially unveiled, outside of some credible leaks, this is all just a rumor.
