Industry Vet Warns Entire Studios May Shutter As Part Of Imminent Xbox Layoffs

Not too long ago, a report surfaced pointing to some big layoffs across Xbox, now, industry veteran, George Broussard, wishes the studios under Xbox good luck.

Taking to Bluesky, Broussard, who you may know for his work on Duke Nukem, Max Payne, and Prey, believes this round of layoffs could be in the 1000s. He did admit in a follow-up post, though, that the number of Xbox employees may very well be wrong.

News has reported imminent Xbox layoffs but I'm hearing internal developer stuff where people at most studios are anxious and worried. Word that entire studios may be shuttered. Expectation is 1000-2000 people. Xbox unit has about 10k people in it?, so 10-20%? Good luck to all involved. Brutal.

Regardless, with all the insiders and vets talking, and Broussard noting that he’s “hearing internal developer stuff,” it still points to him having connections. We don’t have much longer to wait, though, as supposedly these layoffs start next week.
