XBOX Nabs Physint Publishing Rights As PlayStation Pulls Out Of Kojima Partnership
In yet another questionable decision on PlayStation’s part, the console maker has decided to kill its partnership with Hideo Kojima’s Kojima Productions, which in case you don’t know, was working on Physint alongside OD.
In a brief news post, it was revealed the partnership expanded, with Kojima citing communications he got that said “PlayStation Studios […] would cancel the PHYSINT project.” He didn’t want to just throw all that work away, though, so they sought a new partner before landing on XBOX once again.
This is probably the second biggest L PlayStation has done as of late — second only to their decision to kill discs. It’s clear that Physint is poised to be something akin to Kojima’s beloved Metal Gear franchise… but with him back at the helm.
In case you don’t know, Physint was announced back in 2024 as a PlayStation-backed — AKA exclusive — espionage game that would leave your mom thinking you’re watching a movie. Meanwhile, he’s also working on the already XBOX-backed OD. Somehow, PlayStation managed to not just anger fans, but also managed to push a staunch supporting developer to go all-in on Xbox.
