XBOX Is Introducing Hourly Limit To Xbox Cloud Gaming

Joining the likes NVIDIA’s game streaming platform, XBOX has warned subscribers that Xbox Cloud Gaming is undergoing some changes in November that will directly affect how long Game Pass players can freely access the service.

As addressed by XBOX themselves, the update will basically allot free hours per month before you’ll be prompted to pay for extra hours. Currently, the going price for these extra hours is under wraps and will be shared closer to the change, but they did say prices “may vary by market.” While it isn’t going to affect everyone, XBOX expects it will affect about 4%, likely those that go over the maximum hours in their specific tier, which is broken down below.

  • Game Pass Essential = 5 hours
  • Game Pass Premium = 10 hours
  • Game Pass Ultimate = 15 hours

I think this is a rather bitter change, but one I’m not wholly surprised about. It’s no secret that the platform is simply not profitable and recently-appointed CEO Asha Sharma wants to change that while maintaining a dose of transparency and — now — exclusivity to select games.

Before going Team Blue, Gabe filled his time playing Halo 3, Fable 2, Gears of War, and whatever demo he could get his hands on.
