XBOX CSO Responds To GTA VI PS5 Pre-Order Skew Rumor
So just yesterday, a report surfaced that claimed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders are “heavily skewed” towards PlayStation 5 over Xbox Series X|S. Now, I can’t say for sure the numbers, no one knows outside of the platform makers themselves, and I doubt either of them are gonna go out there and rub it into each other’s faces.
That said, XBOX’s CSO, Matthew Ball, has addressed the rumor on social media they are very happy with the pre-order numbers, saying it’s “breaking records” at the platform and that internal analysis revealed “pre-orders to be matching” Xbox’s console market share. Overall, though, Ball states that Xbox is “very happy” with the pre-orders.
Furthermore, some other outlets have thrown around claims that Xbox is concerned about the alleged skew, but Ball has once again stepped in to refute those claims before they get too out-of-hand with simple posts like “False.”
Like I said, I don’t know the numbers, but speaking practically, Xbox, as a whole, does have a smaller console market share, thus it is more than likely that of the two consoles — as the game isn’t heading to PC yet — PS5 is tracking ahead. I also don’t think the game finding slightly less success in GTA VI pre-orders is something that anyone at Xbox as a whole is losing sleep over.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19.
