Leon Is “Quite A Bad Match” For Resident Evil Requiem’s Horror

Capcom has addressed questions surrounding Leon and the upcoming third (and first) person Resident Evil experience, Resident Evil Requiem. Specifically, they explain why he would be “quite a bad match” for the style of horror they’re going for this time around.

During a showcase giving us a feel for Requiem, Capcom labeled protagonist Grace Ashcroft as “introverted and easily scared,” this works perfectly for the story they’re looking to tell. That doesn’t mean Leon wasn’t thought about, in fact, he was considered to be the protagonist, but things changed since his personality wouldn’t likely jump at some of the (we assume in-game) scares that they’re planning.

“We always thought about making Leon the protagonist, but making a horror game based around him is difficult. He wouldn’t jump at something like a bucket falling. No one wants to see Leon scared by every little thing. So, he’s actually quite a bad match for horror.”

Meanwhile, elsewhere, we learn that Capcom kicked around making Requiem an open world multiplayer experience.
