House House Spills The Beans Why Big Walk Skips XBOX
Australia-based House House released their third game, Big Walk, earlier this year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. While XBOX players are often subjected to wait times or simply forgotten about, it’s looking more likely that said players will just have to accept that it’s never coming to the platform.
Just yesterday, the developer shared a statement around why the game skipped XBOX, citing the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement, which names parent company, Microsoft, as a company to boycott due to striking Azure deals with Israel.
Now, many do point out that House House is singling out the XBOX platform while still maintaining a Windows build and selling Big Walk (and their previous games) on PC, including Untitled Goose Game, which remains on sale not only on XBOX, but also on the Microsoft Store. That said, that is more a publisher — Panic — matter over its developer.
This certainly is unfortunate for XBOX players who were hoping to get their hands on Big Walk eventually, but considering the developer is pretty open about their activism and such, it’s not shocking. It’s also easiest for House House to just not support XBOX as opposed to dropping Windows, as in the end, Windows has near-stranglehold on the PC gaming market, which is the most likely to actually buy Big Walk and their wider unique brand of games. They can’t simply not sell their games or else the staff will end up out of the job.
