Gabriel Stanford-ReisingerGears of War: E-Day is probably the most anticipated Xbox exclusive coming in recent years. While I — alongside many others — were blindsided by Xbox pulling the rug from under PlayStation fans who anticipated the game to release to Team Blue, its console exclusivity will probably make it stand out a bit, as will its four total versus modes and six maps.
In a 12-minute video, XBOX showed off what we can expect from the upcoming title’s multiplayer front. While most will probably stick to Horde Siege mode, which is a reimagined version of the co-op survival mode found in previous Gears of War games, there will also be modes for those looking for something more competitive, that’s right Versus is back.
Returning modes for Versus include Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and a rejuvenated King of the Hill. New modes found include Demolition and Crucible, the earlier one requires players to take turns planting bombs and defusing them while the latter has players compete to see how long they can hold a Power Core in a designated zone.
Multiplayer beta starts on August 6 and marches through August 10 for those who pre-ordered. Meanwhile, come August 13 through August 17, anyone can give it a shot.
Gears of War: E-Day launches to Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 6.
