Gears Of War: E-Day Sold 230K Copies, Over 700K Premium Edition Upgrades
Gears of War: E-Day marks a new era for XBOX as it pivots away once again from releasing games outside of their broad ecosystem of the current-gen console and PC, which is predominately ruled by Microsoft’s operating system. While the new Gears is seemingly fumbling in sales, it’s the game’s effect on Game Pass and its Premium Edition upgrade that is truly a fascinating thing.
According to Alinea Analytics, Gears of War: E-Day has only managed to sell 230K copies, a pretty meager number, especially considering the game’s doing some serious numbers with critics and fans alike and the game is part of a beloved IP.
The bigger piece of news that comes from this report, though, is Game Pass subscribers came out en mass, opting to pay $30 for E-Day‘s Premium Edition upgrade, with a whopping 1.7 million players accessing the game through the service and 722K paying to get that sweet, sweet early access.
