Final Fantasy 16 is nearly year old now and with the upcoming release of The Rising Tide DLC, some may question what’s next for the RPG entry. Nothing’s confirmed, but the dev isn’t opposed to making the game for other platforms after the PC release.
During PAX East 2024, Noisy Pixel got to speak with game producer Naoki Yoshida and DLC director Takeo Kujiraoka. When discussing how it feels to “say goodbye” to the cast of characters, the producer noted that this isn’t entirely the end, as the team is eyeing potentially bringing the PS5 console exclusive to other platforms after its PC port has some room to breathe.
While Yoshida doesn’t elaborate on what platforms the team is eyeing, we all know that if anything, it will probably release on Xbox, as it’s the more likely platform to be able to handle something like Final Fantasy 16.
It’s not over in the sense that we have the PC version. Once the PC version is released, we’re thinking about hopefully moving to other platforms as well. However, that’s not really talking about the story; it’s more about moving it onto different platforms. So, there is a sense that while the project is still going, there is not that sense of being sad and having to leave them yet. But I’m pretty sure that once everything is released and we’ve moved on to the next project, that would be the time where it kind of hits us that, “Oh, it’s really it’s over?”
What do you think? Do you want FF 16 to head to Xbox?
