Controversial ABK CEO Bobby Kotick Leaves Next Year

Activision Blizzard’s controversial CEO, Bobby Kotick, is poised to exit the company after the year’s up. He remains in his role until then and reports directly to Phil Spencer.

People were no doubt expecting massive shakeups that often happen during mass acquisitions, but we can’t say we expected ABK’s Kotick to end up on the receiving end of it. He’s been in charge of the company for over three decades. Regardless, according to a statement by Microsoft (via TheVerge), he agreed to these terms and will keep his role to ensure a “smooth and seamless integration.”

Considering the accusations surrounding Kotick, this shouldn’t be as shocking as it feels. In a much milder way, it’s like the also controversial Sony CEO Jim Ryan retiring from his position next year, as well. What the future holds for ABK figurehead is beyond us.

What do you think? Will Spencer do the job just as well if not better than Kotick? Let us know below!
