Atomfall’s Game Pass Launch Went “Really, Really Well” For Microsoft
Atomfall has been a massive success story for Rebellion Developments since its launch earlier this year. Apparently, its release on Game Pass also heavily benefited Microsoft, as well.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley discussed how much of a great partner Microsoft was to them and how it’s done “really, really well for them” and that both parties got a good deal.
“It’s been a huge success […] Microsoft has been a fantastic partner to work with, they’ve really leaned in to helping us. They brought their skills and their scale to bear on our small project, and it’s done really, really well for them, so they got a good deal, we got a good deal out of it as well.”
Later, the discussion around games going to Game Pass came up, and how much the service actually helps games get attention, which has always been seen as a double-edged sword. Kingsley’s take largely fell on how people might find a game and try it on Game Pass and tell a friend about it, thus giving more engagement and more attention.
PSX Extreme’s review of Atomfall said: “Atomfall, at first glance, might be regarded as a Fallout clone, but the truth is it has a clear identity that makes it stand out from the pack of imitators. Its green and lush surroundings give it a unique flair, even if its story is still a bit by the numbers.”
